TRAVEL TIPS

Timing

You can easily spend a full day in the neighborhood. You’ll want to spend at a couple of hours exploring the streets and squares, stepping into churches, and having a coffee or "spritz" with the students in Campo Santa Margherita or pausing for a coffee and gelato while taking in the water views along the Fondamenta delle Zattere. You will want, at very least, to devote at least a half an hour to admiring the Titians in the imposing and monumental Santa Maria della Salute, and another half hour for the wonderful Veroneses in the peaceful, serene church of San Sebastiano. The Gallerie dell'Accademia demands a few hours, but if time is short an audio guide can help you cover the highlights in about an hour. Ca' Rezzonico deserves at least an hour, as does the Peggy Guggenheim collection. Those interested in contemporary art should spend an hour at the François Pinault Foundation museum at the Punta della Dogana.
