If you need a map of Mont-Royal's extensive hiking trails or want to know about the more than 180 kinds of birds here, the former park keeper's residence is the place to go. It's also a good spot for getting a snack, drink, or souvenir. The pretty little stone house—built in 1858—is the headquarters of Les Amis de la Montagne (The Friends of the Mountain), an organization that offers various guided walks–-including moonlight snowshow walks and cross-country ski lessons–-on the mountain and in nearby areas.
